1. How many milliliters of Calcium and Alkalinity are you dosing per day?

144ml Calcium and 760ml of Carbonate (Fauna Marin Balling Light). According to my calculations, this equates to about 10ppm of Calcium and about 1.5KH per day. Both Calcium and Carbonate dosing have been going up steadily over the past 12 months.

2. Would you consider your tank to have a heavily, moderately or lightly stocked coral bio-load?

Moderately stocked though large colonies.

3. What types of corals dominate your reef tank? SPS, LPS, Soft etc?

My tank looks closest to @RussiReef 's. This thread has me curious since I have a pretty laid back technique once a system hits a max of about 2 cups of kalk to 36 gallons of water (I continually mix and dose a milky/slurry) and how much CA and Alk my tank is actually using. With a new system I start out low (.25 tsp/gallon) and test often until I hit the max, but from then on everything grows and Alk and CA don't bottom out, unsure why it doesn't. On the way up I shoot for 7-7.5dKh.

Seems like everyone should be listing how much CA (ppm) and Alk (dKh) they are dosing per gallon of aquarium water per day. I'm trying to get a ballpark on this for my system. If others can post this it will show the ranges.

1.How many milliliters of Calcium and Alkalinity are you dosing per day?
I'm currently trying to keep up with demand for the last couple of weeks and haven't been able to stabilise Alk and CA but right now I'm dosing 105ml of all-for-reef to my 500L Mixed Reef (was running fine at 30ml two weeksago)

2. Would you consider your tank to have a heavily, moderately or lightly stocked coral bio-load?

I consider it to be mid to high coral load, meaning lots of frag and no decent colonies yet.

3. What types of corals dominate your reef tank? SPS, LPS, Soft etc?

I guess it's starting to become a sps dominant mixed reef

I have a 50 gallon IM lagoon and dose 4 times in a 25 hour period with esv two part. I consider my reef a moderate mix reef load. To dose I use a Kasa WiFi outlet connected to a BRS 1.1 ml dosing pump.

So that would be 36.3 ml per day. I think for my water volume 5.5 ml will raise my DKH by .2 So right now my Alk consumption for my corals in 38 or so gallons of water volume is 1.2 DKH per day. This amount has almost doubled since last year.
You can see the the older photo of my reef in May 2020

1. How many milliliters of Calcium and Alkalinity are you dosing per day?
—60ml. CaCl , 60ml Sodium carbonate. Tank is consuming about 2.5 grams carbonate ion and 2.75 grams calcium ion per day, so whatever this balances out to, is an approximation that’s pretty closely matching. This is broken down from 60ml per day of 1molar solutions of sodium carbonate(106gm/L) Carbonate ion MW is 46 and 60ml a day of CaCl(110gr/L) Ca ion is MW 40.

2. Would you consider your tank to have a heavily, moderately or lightly stocked coral bio-load?
--Light, but have a few clams.

3. What types of corals dominate your reef tank? SPS, LPS, Soft etc?
--All of the above.

I would say moderate load. Currently dosing kalk 24/7 about a gallon a day and 26 ml of BRS 2 part every day in 12 doses. Mag dosed by hand as needed. Do to unavailability of versa dosers I am eagerly awaiting release of the Red Sea dosers. Then I can auto does more supplements. Oh the tank is a shallow 75 truvue acrylic I have had for over 25 years. The current reboot is approaching 1 year.

Not sure how helpful volume dosed is, 10ml from one brand might be twice as potent as 10ml from another brand.

My tank consumes about 2° dKH, and about 15 ppm calcium per day with a moderately stocked mixed reef

Right now I dose 43.2ml of dissolved soda ash daily, a few weeks ago I was dosing over 80ml. About 16.8ml calcium chloride solution.

But in reality, the 43.2ml alkalinity supplement I dose now, actually amount to slightly more alkalinity than the >80ml I was dosing before, because amount in ml is only helpful when you also give size of the tank and concentration in the additive, and ask people to do calculations in their head.

Usage in ppm or ° dKH is universal, no matter how big the tank or what the additive is

Not all concentrations of ALK and CA are the same so I’m not sure the accuracy of reporting Mls used. Also, dosers can be slightly out of calibration.

Consumption in the form of PPM is best IMM.
Please feel free to correct if I misunderstand.

My tank is a 180, mixed and say moderately stocked.

Its daily consumption and dosing rates are as follows:
Alk 18ppm but 66ml in product to maintain 190ppm
CA 16ppm but 55ml in product to maintain 440ppm
Phosphorus 7PPB but 10ml of product to maintain 24ppb.
Nitrate consumption unknown, no dosing required at 5ppm.
MG, consumption unknown, but dosing 40ml product to 1400ppm.
Every couple of months, dosing needs a bit of an increase.

Red Sea Nopox....as a carbon source and holds my nitrate level.

I dose manually:
Seachem Phyto......twice a week
Seachem zooplankton.....twice a week
Red Sea A+B......twice a week.

WOW!! Thank you!! I need to start dosing and have no idea where to start. I did buy Reef Code A&B but I'm so scared to mess something up if I dose!

Messing up.....yup....that’s a very big danger when dosing.
Assuming you have a moderate Stoney coral load, you may only need to dose CA, Alk and MG and trace, if your not into water changes.

Only have GSP so far and do water changes every 2 weeks. Haven't dosed anything this far.

I was dosing my 20g nano yesterday and started wondering how many milliliters of Calcium and Alkalinity everyone else was dosing in their reefs. Now I know that the amount these are consumed will vary based on many factors including but not limited to the coral bio-load within the reef system. That being said I thought it would be fun to compare notes so let's talk about it today!

I need you to answer all of these questions.

1. How many milliliters of Calcium and Alkalinity are you dosing per day?

2. Would you consider your tank to have a heavily, moderately or lightly stocked coral bio-load?

3. What types of corals dominate your reef tank? SPS, LPS, Soft etc?

Soft corals only, never had to dose anything as I use red sea coral Pro salt.

Red Sea appears to be about 2 times the concentration of 1 molar solution, so that should be considered. The powdered RedSea appears to be baking soda. And I believe the calcium is 3 times to be balanced so 15ml to 5ml seams good.
lots of things can use alk and calcium. Not just sps. If a tank is growing coralline for example. Growth can determine usage.
