Is there any way to build a battery backup out of a car battery? ;Smuggrin
Absolutely, although trolling motor battery's for boats work better. It's not even hard to do. The biggest factor is cost and just how fancy you want it. You can do it cheaply if you don't mind charging the battery manually and hooking up an inverter to run off it. It can get very expensive if you want it to stay on a float charge with loads wired to the inverter full time so it always automatically ready.

Can I just keep it charged with a trickle charger? We already have an inverter from when we moved to CO from NY.

Yup, you should be able to do that.

Does anyone know of a wifi power monitor? I would like something that basically does what the old EB8 does - show me a graph of how many amps I’ve been drawing over the past few days so I can see what my peak amp draw is.

Sense Energy Monitor - $300

I haven't used it myself, but appears to be what you're after. Perhaps overkill.

The controller on my red dragon 3 return pump went out. Customer Service said it my be due to a power surge. So I just ordered this surge protector for my tank to protect it.

My question is can I plug this into my GFCI outlet adaptor without any problems?

You should be able to do that without problems. Just be careful not to plug too much stuff into this and overload the circuit.

Hello I’m trying to figure out what would be a correct driver for 30 high power LEDs . They will be in rows of 10 on 3 different heat sinks . All actinic colors. Dimmable would be better but not really needed. I could slim it down to 8-9 in 3 rows what ever . I have already figured out that I need a constant current driver . But I’m having problems figuring out what driver and wiring diagram. Do I need a resistor for each row or not ? THX Ted

Looks like you have some home work;)
Take a look at these websites, they have selection charts and key information to help you select the correct supply.
Good luck!

No usually not, it would list the bulb type on the ballast label.

It should read 2-F54T5HO on the ballast label for 4 foot bulbs.
Post a picture of the ballast label.

The T8 and T5 are both electronic ballasts so it actually should work as long as the power rating is correct. It may not give ideal brightness and the bulbs may not last as long, but they should light.
