I've read your whole tank bio...amazing corals and breaking old trends well done.

I do intend to use the stones,
Not shaking them obviously doesn't allow feeding the mulm to corals but they can be fed alternatives.

Im curious to learn if not shaking them will effect the life span or inhibit effective bacteria culture. Thoughts?

In theory shaking the stone release the outer bacteria so Coral can feed and then the bacteria can re populate the stone again and repeat the cycle. Zeo recommend you replace the stone every 2 months

This is our RedSea 450 reefer running zeovit for 6 months now. Has been pretty easy compared to our old 90 gallon cube not running zeovit. Not as many water changes to do on the new tank. We did have one crash due to a defective heater element, but it’s been good ever since.

For what it's worth. I am in the same boat as you. I've been on the Zeovit system since March 2020. Initially I was maintaining my nutrients via NoPOx and my levels were PO4: 0.08 and NO3: 20ppm. Since starting the Zeovit program I slowly weaned my NoPOx dose. I've stopped NoPOx about 2 weeks ago. Since then my Nutrient level started to increase. Currently they are PO4: 0.47 one NO3:50ppm. With the advice from Alexander (Zeovit forum) i have added a bit of GFO to see if I can slowly bring the PO4 down.

They
Do you dose the Zeobak to the skimz reactor or to the display tank? Little confused.
Some zeolite rocks are very small, went through the reactor mesh. Do you use the small rocks or large ones?

thanks
They have larg rock for automatic reactor

I’ve been running zeo for over a year in my tank. I really like the approach versus using GFO or lanthium all the time.
I dose zeostart, zeofood, Phols extra, flatworm stop, coral boosterand amminos.

Zeovite rocksin a Skimz reactor which I agree is the easiest unit I’ve used.

I just happened to look at the Zeovit Dosing Guide and see that some of the dosages are different from what's written on the bottles. (I found the chart on the BRS site):

Some examples:

1) Iron Concentrate: Bottle says, 1 ml per 50 gal once a week. Guide says: 1 drop per 100L (25 gal) twice a week. That's a 20-fold difference!

2) B-Balance: Bottle says, 1ml per 25 gal daily; Guide says, 3ml per 100L once a week.

There may have been some other ones too that differed. Does anyone know which directions we should follow, the BOTTLE or the GUIDE?

Thanks for helping.

simple answer is follow bottle.

Better answer is use bottle as a guide and dose more or less based on your tank and what it needs.

Steve,
Thanks for your reply. The problem I see is that only one of them can be right, and when there is a 20-fold discrepancy, either you will be overdosing like crazy or adding a negligible amount. It shouldn't be up to the "user" to have to figure out which is the right dosage, especially when so many of their additives are "secret" (i.e. they don't reveal the ingredients). Somehow, we need to get a definite answer from the company.

I don’t disagree unfortunately being a German company they don’t update the print literature in English very often. The US and Europe are much smaller markets for them versus Germany and the Far East.
Many times the issue comes from updates to the product. ZFood they stopped numbering the updates and now just call it plus.

I believe one of the reasons KZ isn’t much bigger in the US is lack of support. The KZ forum is a waste and you only get the same canned answers from the one mod on the forum.

To do KZ well you have to have a good feel for your system and what it needs. KZ is not a set it and forget it type system. One of the reason with my new 300g build I may go away from KZ

Just to follow up on my recent post regarding:
Should we be following the labels on the bottles or the dosages on the GUIDE??
….. I put together a table containing all the Zeovit additives I use. The first column shows the dosages written on the bottle. The next column shows the dosages on the 2018 GUIDE and the third column shows tje“original” guide from circa 2009 (when I first using these products).
In the table you can ignore the last two columns which contain some notes and dosages I came up with for my 40 gal system.

There are many discrepancies but, again, the largest on is with:

Iron Concentrate: bottle says 1 ml per 50 gal per week;
the GUIDE states 1 drop / 25L 2 x week. That is a 20-fold difference!

(I sent an email to Korallen-Zucht so we'll see if I get a reply and I tried to post this on the ZeoVit site but wasn't able to register for some reason).
