A few months ago, I heard @telegraham say on Prestige Reef and Reef Dork’s weekly live that he found the OEM for the AI Nero, but he never said who it was. Does anybody here know the AI Nero OEM?

Wait, doesn't look like it; the wavepuck is dramatically thicker than the Nero, and has a slanted "grill teeth" design while the Nero has a straight vertical one.
It's funny how things said for shock value seldom turn out to be true. It's just an attempt at throwing shade.

You learned a valuable lesson today.

I don't think @telegraham said that just for shock value or throwing shade; he probably just mistook the Wavepuck, as they do look sort of similar.

Also, didn't the Wavepuck II come out after the Nero?
Pretty sure the company that makes the wavepuck has the patent or trademark (not sure which it is) for that style wavemaker. AI just licenses the design, and can put their own tweaks to the design.

With most AI and ecotech products, you're not necessarily paying for the design of the product, but more the access to the app and the controlability of the product.

Only speculating here. But it seems that he's suggesting that the overseas company that makes the nero is the very same place that makes the wavepuck II.

Perhaps, suggesting that maybe they share the same stator. And further suggesting that because they share the same internals that they are equal. And what you won't get from your livestreams is someone questioning that logic and making the counterpoint that they aren't the same and to go even further to debunk the suggestion that one is reasonably priced while the other is out of greed.

I thought he was saying that Waveline manufactures the Neros or AI uses modified WavePucks for their Neros.

I see; if that is true, then @telegraham was likely correct. @telegraham apologies for doubting you.

Quite possible. Then the question becomes, and?

Was the intent to draw the conclusion that based on a perceived licensensing agreement to make the stator means that everything else is equal?

After Jim's response you even said that the product he pointed to wasn't the same as nero. Which suggested that your takeaway of the livestreams were that someone could purchase the same thing without the AI branding.

It shouldn't come as a surprise that what commands the demand is the platform in which nero operates, and the functionality that the software provides.

That's why my comment about "learning something" was an attempt to have people not take something said for shock and entertainment at face value.
