60gal.jpg

yesterday i picked up my new project, 60 gallon deep blue rimless tank, w a custom stand.
i need help figuring out what sump will be best for this tank.
cube sump? or regular rectangular sump?

Purchase list:
2 vortech mp10
6x24 ati t5 fixture
6 bulbs (4 blue plus) (1 purple plus) (1 aquablue special)
24in Reefbrite XHO blue
1 tunze ATO
70 pounds of live rock
60 pounds of sand
sump? that's the big question. (1st cube)

This will be a chalice tank, with a few SPS.

any opinions or ideas are welcome.
thanks ahead of time.

Since space is a little limited, a rectangular one might a little tight depending on how you want to set up your filtration. I know Elite Aquatics now makes a cube sump. I have their Elite 2 sump and absolutely love it!

that sump is like an arm and a leg. $500? little steep for me.

A cube sump would be the most optimal fitting that space and giving max water volume and gear options, however they do not come cheap.
Comb sites seeing if you can get lucky and find a used one, it is a common foot print, but if you can't or can't afford it a rectangle tank will do, it's worked for me on several cubes I've had.
I'm about to begin a new one myself.

Have the same tank and stand. I have a 20 gallon sump in the stand. It is a little long and hangs out the back of the stand about 2 inches, but it's fine since I have the tank kitty-cornered. Also have a 5-gallon ATO setup, my apex and all the gear nestled in the stand. Love my MP10s!!! Look forward to seeing pictures as you build it out.
