Lighting an acrylic tank with cut out top ?

I just bought a 100 gallon acrylic tank. The top of it is a piece with two holes cut out. Is this going to effect how I should light it? I guess what I'm asking is,will light shined threw the acrylic will have any value after passing threw? And any ideas on how to light it so I can grow coral?
