I need some opinions from folks who know about ballasts. I have recently acquired a bunch of 250W HQI ballasts and an not sure which are best. I plan to run 250W phoenix bulbs unless someone thinks I should use something else. here are the ballasts I have to choose from. Unfortunately I don't have 3 of the same kind except for the last pictured Galaxy. These ballasts will be used on a 250W DE Geissman infinity

With the galaxy and lumatek ballasts you will be able to run 250w 20k radiums no problem.

I should also ask, are you going to run mogul or de?

Thanks for the input! They will be used on a 3X250w DE Geissman Infinity fixture.

Ok so no radiums then lol. The Phoenix 14k de is your best bet if you can find them still for sale. Amazon had a few last time I checked about a month ago.

I ready Sinjay's article and it says only use an M80 ballast.... all of these are M58 from what I can tell.. However I have seen the light functioning well... Anyone know what I'm missing out on by not having M80 ballasts?

M80 ballasts are magnetic and not many companies make them anymore. I think aquamedic is one that still does. The electronic(m58 ) runs the bulbs at 249watts. But if your electronic ballast is select a watt you can run it on hqi which drives the bulbs at 275watts. The m80 runs at 330watts. The m80 is the recommended ballast for the 250w radium bulb.

There is nothing wrong with the ballasts you have since you are running de bulbs
