It's been almost two years now since I've bought this chalice: SC Atom bomb. It's grown from a one eye frag to what you see now...and its growing off the disk.
I'm going back and forth between two ideas: frag off a few eyes and sell them (keeping the large part), or just leave it alone and let it grow. Part of me could definitely use the cash as I'd like to pick up a few more high end Sps pieces, but the other part hates to cut up something that could be the potential center piece on my sandbed. What would you do?

Cut it. Get new pieces. It will grow again. If money is no problem then don't cut it
But if you can use that money to buy more high end pieces then do it.

**** happens it's better to have taken some money out of corals

IMO

Frag it.

Send one piece to your best reefer friend to bank for you in case something happens to your tank.

Sell the other piece and buy more coral.

Keep it. In a time where mother colonies are the size of quarters I would grow it out to the size of a dinner plate ☺

All I ever see is chalice frags or single polyps of zoas, i think these people get it to show off the tiny piece, and then kill it. Really you never see anyone showing off their high end colonies anymore.

I say don't frag it. I've never fragged my Dynamite from day 1 and it grew into this from a 1 eye frag.

Wow ! That's awesome . That's exactly what I'd love to have . But since I can't afford a one this big guess I'll just have to grow my own 1 eye beauty . :D

I would love to have one of these but my tank is only about 4 months old so I am patiently waiting. Beautiful pics everyone!

I can't even afford one eye!

I just feel your chalice hasn't even shown the tip of the iceberg in its potential. Don't get me wrong, it is a stunning piece for sure! But there's no telling what it could become in another year or two. It has blue lightning bolts running through it for crying out loud lol

Keep growing it! They are much more impressive as a large colony! Maybe when it extends off the plug a bit more, chip off a piece and give to a friend as a back up.. Just in case.

keep it whole!!!!!! It would be awesome to let it grow out even more, who knows what kind of crazy colors and patterns might pop up. Only frag it if you really really need $$$$$.
