A few that know me from "other" forums know that I am a crinoid fanatic. I have been successfully keeping various species of them in my aquariums over the past few years. Wanted to share a video of one of me passions in reefkeeping.

Hey Aquabacs,

Nice. I know you from the other forum. I really like those things, maybe I will get one when I setup my new tank.

Thanks guys!

Austin, they are my favorite feather dusters that I picked up from Petco and all I feed them is Black Powder once a week ;)

I should have another 2 to the collection Thursday night along with 2 more squat lobsters :D

All you give those crinoids is black powder once a week? Do you feed the other inverts/fish/corals in your system other stuff regularly? What stuff?

Very cool specialty!!!

I was just kidding with Austin :haha: I wouldn't think of putting that in my aquarium nor is crinoid care even close to that easy.

Feeding regime goes as this:

Daily
Using a fishmate auto feeder, feed dry into a feeding ring, Fauna Marin Ultra Seafan, Fauna Marin Ultra Clam, Fauna Marin Ultramin F in each compartment of the feeder. This is fed 4x a day, each time over a 2 hour period, continuously 24/7.

Daily 7am
FM UltraMin D and FM UltraMin S

Daily
Reef Nutrition Rotifeast at 6:30am and 6pm dosed manually
Reef Nutrition OysterFeast at 7am dosed manually
Reef Nutrition Shellfish Diet at 7pm dosed manually

Daily at 6pm
frozen mysis shrimp

Daily at 8pm
frozen cyclop-eeze

Feather stars love Ultra min F! I mix in 1/2 a cup of tank water: an 1/8th of a teaspoon of Ultra Min F, frozen cyclop-eeze, 1ml of Reef Nutrition OysterFeast. Then I dose the feather stars directly using a Kent Sea Squirt.

Whoa, now we're talkin! :)

I bet all the other corals in your tank go nuts.... do you get super great growth on all your other corals?

I only keep non-photosynthetic corals so crinoids fit perfectly in this environment.

Interesting. I bet your biggest problem aside from all the feeding is all the nutrient export. Can you give a quick explanation of your filtration?

Thank you. That walking video was cool btw :xd:

A large part of the nutrient export is done by water changes & skimming. Minimum of 25% of the total system's volume is changed every Wednesday & 25% every Saturday. No GFO or carbon is used. I also use Fauna Marin's Ultralith system (not solely for nutrient export ;)).
