This comes in regard to a friends tank. Can anyone confirm which of the two it is and please express how you'd battle it. I have my thoughts but I'd like yours as well before I get back to him. I've included a photo of the area in his tank.

Looks like HA. Lower phosphates is my suggestion. Pick up a hannah digital phosphate checker to measure them quickly and accurately
