After being out of the hobby for about 7 years, I decided the time was right to dust off some old equipment and bring a tank to life.
The tank is a 38 tall 36x13x18 I'm not 100% sold on this tank being the one. I may switch it and go with a 40 breeder but I'm going to wait till I get my lights to see what the coverage looks like before I make my decision. I am taking my time with the build and I'm not planning on any corals being in the tank till after the first of the year.
This could actually change if I get the water stable and all my other little goodies like controllers and reactors set up and working the way I want them to.
I will be setting up old 15 gallon acrylic cube to the system as a refugium and a 20 long frag tank. With total water volume being around 85 gallons or so.
The frag tank wont come on line for a while.
I'll be doing a 1" sand bed with 50lbs of base rock.

Equipment:
Lighting: 2 dimmable OCreef par 38 14k LEDs and either 2 t5s or 1 420nm blue Led strip.
Skimmer: Lifereef VS24
Sump is a 24x12x14 Lifereef
A dual BRS Carbon and GFO reactor with an MJ1200 power head
5 gallon ATO system with a JBJ A.T.O. water level controller
Controller Digital Aquatics Reefkeeper Lite plus
An Aqua Euro 1/13 hp chiller
Jager 100 watt heater
A couple of Koralia evolution PHs
A DIY kalk dripper

Off to a good start. You certainly have the equipment. Do you think the lighting will lend it's self to a tall tank?

I am hoping that it will be enough for it with just the LEDs but if not I have a couple of 150 14 DE metal halide pendants that I know will do the trick. I have heard that these lights do well up to about 24 inches.

I will be talking to Rick from Reef Radiance this week about what I can do for lighting this tank. I saw a couple of the par lights I mentioned above and they just wont do what I want them to. I'm thinking about 1 or 2 of their DM 132e fixtures.

I
Stocking plans?[/QUOTE
I think this one is going to be mainly LPS and SPS.
A Pair of either oscellaris or gold stripe maroon clowns. I'm leaning towards oscellaris because maroons are much meaner. A watchman or orange stripe goby and possibly a cherub angle or possum wrasse.

Had a setback with the tank yesterday filled it up with water and found a leak about 3/4 way up the tank on a seam in the back. So it looks like I'm going with a 40 breeder. Will be looking into it this weekend.
