I just bought a 14 gallon Biocube. I currently have a water softener system in place and I am not sure if the water would be fit for a saltwater tank. Should I use gallon water from the grocery store or would my home water with the softener work? Any advice would be appreciated.

Distilled would be best, beside making your own rodi water. LFS might sell rodi water as well.

Invest in a ro/di filter. The ability to make your own water esp. in an emergency is priceless. Make sure you invest in a tds meter too. I have bought lfs ro/di water that I checked and it was showing 027. You always want your water to read 000.

+1 on Distilled water, the one that is sealed about .88/gallon. I get 0 readings on TDS meter.
