Hello everyone!

We are moving to our new home this week, and I finally get to set up a closed off unfinished space as my filtration room for my display tank on the other side of the wall! This will all start on Wednesday with getting my 135 gal (refugium to be) moved with the stand and set up in the filtration room. I will fill that tank and have it circulating for a few days before moving my current display (75 gal). I have moved a tank from a room to another room in my current house before, but an entirely new house will be a new ......adventure (stressfest) ? lol

I will be taking as many photos as possible with getting the new setup completed. The plan is to have the 75 gal DT on the living room side of the wall. That will be plumbed through the wall into a sump in the filtration room. The 135 fuge will be plumbed into the same sump, and the return pump will return to both tanks. I hope it will work with flow. I will be using a mag18.

Wish me luck!

Ryan

Ok so the whole idea of taking photos and posting them along the way of the process! yea .. didn't happen. Moving while also working was nuts as well as setting up the tank with the new plumbing process through the wall into a 135 fuge. BUT It is done! The new stand has been built. The tanks have been plumbed. Everything is running. I did have a loss of one thing, which was a condy anemone. I still need to put doors on the new stand and build a new canopy to match. Also I am going to be adding an auto top-off system as soon as I can. BUT for now here was the process!

I'm just curious as to why you aren't using the 135 as the display tank and the 75 as the refugium?
I would think that would make more sense plus five you much more space to work with in terms of aquascaping and the type/size fish you could have?
Plus the 75 would be plenty big enough to house all the equipment as well as be a killer refugium/frag tank

new stand continued. I white washed then stained with a Tudor stain. The goal was to get an old driftwoody type look to it. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of it after I stained it. But you'll see those with the moving pictures.

So as you can see I am no master plumber :) But the system has been working for some time now and no leaks . I was hoping that I wouldn't end up with a giant tank crash from adding 135 gals to the system, and so far so good. More pictures to come

Thanks for checking it out tinctorus! I chose to go with the 135 as the fuge because it is an older tank. It has quite a few superficial scratches on it that are not pleasing to look at. I didn't want to toss it, so I thought I could use it to add a lot of water to the total volume and also use it as a large fuge. The sump is now under that tank in the fish room, and nothing will need to be kept in the stand in the living room.

Oh ok now it makes sense, may add well get some use out of an old tank that ain't pretty to look at but is still functional
That should help you out alot adding that much volume to your system
Plus having a nice large sump to work with is great instead of trying to shoehorn in a bunch of stuff that only fits a certain way depending on the phase of the moon and the earth's gravitational pull LOL

Haha exactly! I am using a 35 gal sump under the 135 fuge that is plumbed into both the fuge and the DT.

When I get all the lighting equipment on the fuge and get new canopy on the DT I will post some more pics on this thread as well. Thanks for looking! To all you electricians and awesome organizers, feel free to come to Madison, WI and help me make this look better ;)
