Need some help guys! Wish I could post a pic, but not sure why it will not let me.

All of my live rock is turning green!

I recently moved, and set up my tank again with all the same equipment in my new home. I ran it for about a month and a half with everything but the lights, and no coral or fish. About a month ago, I added my lights, fish, and coral. Everything looks to be doing great!!!

Except that my live rock is turning green. Some is bright green, and other areas are darker green. I can't scrape it off with my fingernail. It does not feel slimy. It is not hairy.

All my water test come out good.

Some forums said this could maybe be Coraline algae, and some other say that I am in for a frustrating experience of removing nuisance algae.

What do you guys think?

Pictures would be awesome but If it's encrusting and green then it's coralline algae, coralline is first green then turns purple/red as it matures. You would also see it encrusting on your glass if it is coraline.

It is def coraline algae and it could take up to about possibly 3 months at max but look around a month or so. This also depends on amounts of coral and what types... Sps anywhere from a week to a month Lps like a month to two softies almost never... Hard to get coraline unless introduced in some way... But yes it will not harm you corals but it may look ugly...

Thanks guys! Really makes me feel much better. Anyone have any before and after pics? Green to purple/pink? Provide time between pics!

Would love to see others!

Thanks again!

Hi, so does it eventually turn dark red? I've noticed quite a few of my rocks that were once purple now appear blood red and was wondering if I was doing something wrong or if I'm having a algae outbreak? It definitely is not red slime coating the rocks.
