I've seen people that dose the kalk while they have the calcium reactor running as well. WOuldn't that elevate your calcium too high? What are the advantages?

Because I could crank my Calcium reactor up to meet the calcium/alk demand but the amount of co2 it would take would drop the PH way to low . Kalk burns off co2 so it helps balance it out . I ran just the reactor for a long time but as the demand increased co2 became a problem .

Because some tanks have a very high demand.

Kalk Raises your pH
CO2 Lowers it

Used together they ballance, and allow you
to meet the calcium demands of your tank.

Another major reason is the benefit of phosphate precipitation. I could maintain calcium with just my Ca reactor but built a DIY kalk reactor also because of this added benefit.
