My tank has developed a smell and I cannot figure out what could be the issue. It smells like some sort of a chemical smell. Nothing has been changed but it seems like this issue just popped up. I did go ahead and change gac . Anyone know what might be the cause?

I had a strange smell to mine once, and discovered it was the heater.

Wow thanks I just pulled my Cobalt Neotherm heaters and one was melted and smells just like the tank water.

No I lost 2 tangs which I had over 10 years so far corals seem to be okay. I am running lots of carbon and been doing water changes all day. Any other suggestions?

Do you have a ground probe in your tank? I have one in mine and think it may have saved me. Had one angel with what looked like burnt fins, but he healed fine, and no other casualties when mine went out.

Creating a strong bulwark: Did you consider floor support for your reef tank?
