I traded with a member on RC and he sent me out a bunch of zoas, tulip anenomes and what not. Included in the zoas was a 10 polyp colony of Purple deaths. He shipped them on the 3rd they were supposed to be delivered to me yesterday 5th.According to fedex the package is still over 500 miles from my house and has 3 more stops before delivery. so I should get a very smelly box sometime next week...:mad::mad:. What is up with all the shipping companies dropping the ball latley. I thought USPS was the bad one? I have never had a problem with them.Always recieved packages from them when they said.

FedEx blows....last summer when i was buying corals left and right and having them shipped to me, out of 12 deliveries 6 of them were delayed a day or more, everytime I would call FedEx to find out why they were delayed they acted like "Oh Well, our incompetent employee placed your package on the wrong plane, or sorry the employees have already left for the day and your package never got put on the plane" when I could clearly see by the tracking information that it got to the facility 3 hours before closing time, they would rather take the loss and lose customers than be responsible for their services. Do yourself a favor like I did, don't use FedEx anymore, use UPS or another carrier. FedEx is good when they are on time but they are hardly on-time...I hate FedEx too!

Wow i love fedex. UPS sucks over here. But i did get a package in last week and it was suppose to be here before 10:30 but it didn't arrive till 1:30. The hurricanes is what's making them late. Cuz they have to be careful for the planes to leave on time.

Fedex is the only way for me. Its possible that the Hurricane Gustav or something like that could have delayed it? Or was it just straight up employee error?

I havent had any DOAs yet, knock on wood

Funny that you should put this on here b/c I always seem to be having problems with Fedex and no one else does! The last two shipments I had are like you described...they're supposed to be delivered by "x" time, I call when they're not and they were put on the wrong plane and won't arrive until the next day. If you tell them its live, they ask if it was shipped through the live animal department, otherwise they won't pay for the loss. Now usps on the other hand, has never once delayed a package I have shipped, and I've shipped maybe 10 times through them - and its half the cost.

I never ship for a friday delivery day. If there is a mess up, you wont get your package until the following monday. I always pack as if there will be a delay, just in case.

Overnight shipping with any carrier seems to hit fewer hiccups than their 2/3/4 day shipping products as well. At least when the start and end points are major cities.

Bingo.... we never ship for Friday delivery, it is just too risky and mistakes happen all the time.

Hey guys, dont shoot the messenger!!!!! A lot of these shipping nightmares are caused in part to all the hurricanes and tropical storms. Most FedEx flights are hubbed through Memphis and if there is any remote chance that there is a weather problem, you can bet your sweet bippy that your coral will be delayed. Thats why i have started sedning all my customers a warning email stating that I will only ship if you can confirm there is no storms in and or araound the hubs of FedEx. It is not just FedEx, any of the major 3 will have the same issues just in different parts of the country as they all hub in various locations. For example, DHL hubs in Cincinatti, OH. just my .02cents and once again this is a perfect example of why you shouldnt skimp on next day service. If it missed the 1st slot most certainly it should have caught the 2nd slot.

didn't think this would have so many replys....it's not that the shipping is delayed they don't know were it is. when the guy shipped it at the fedex location he checked the transit time and it said 2 days which means friday by 8pm...fine. the package has only made it from the original drop off to the first stop. moline,IL then it goes to chicago then to northern,ky and finally to lexington so it can be delivered. after the original pick up it has just been sitting there it's not moving at all been in the same location for the last 3 days now. how can a hurricane have anything to do with stupidity?...JMO

Why did you have it shipped for 2 day shipping to begin with? IMO coral should pretty much always be shipped overnight esp in the summer time.

I agree, they are bums! I had a non reef related package sent that i had to sign for, so i sat on the porch all day long on the day it was "on fed ex vehicle for delivery" and due to be here... They never came, later that night on the tracking it said no attempt made, rescheduled for next business day. The next day the no attempt made then said weather exception... it was lightly raining, so they never even bothered to come?? I wont even go into details about the next day, where it says i was unavailable. It took 2 phone calls but i finally got my stuff delivered.

http://www.fedex.com/Tracking?actio...&initial=x&mps=y&tracknumbers=343310912436111

I live in IL.. we dont get hurricanes, we get violent thunderstorms but it rarely floods or grounds planes, things of that nature. There was not even any thunder, it was lightly raining... more like a sprinkle. Can you tell they hit a nerve with me as well LOL

I did not have it shipped 2 days. The person I traded with had it shipped fedex 2day. he had originally went to ups and they wanted $100 for the shipping. so he had fedex ship it instead. I have talked with the guy several times and he has promised to make good on it. even said he would replace everything and send the items I traded him back. but I am not like that as long as he sends me something for the trade I am fine. he even said that he has already filed a for a value of $75 he is having the check sent to me and if by chance anything does make it out of this mess I keep and he will resend everything. so maybe it will turn out ok. I just checked the tracking info again and it is still in IL. been there since the 3rd

At least youre getting something back. I said the hurricanes could be a possibility because I was just trying to think of every possibility. Did you ship 2nd day? IMO I expect the same shipping method back when I ship with someone.

I recently filed a claim for a box I got that was shattered, water leaking every where. The Fed Ex delivery person was already documenting the damage when I opened the door, so there was no doubt it happened on the trip to Montgomery. They denied the claim saying that they are not responsible for live animals, despite the fact that they destroyed the shipment. Couldn't even get shipping charges back. Yet another, not my fault, I don't stand behind my services, slip. Gotta love the direction things have been headed for some time...

corals should never be shipped anything but overnight.

I only use fed ex unless someone has a UPS account and want to use it I will make an exception

If they insist on shipping USPS I wont sell to them

the ONLY time they have ever dropped the ball was when a airport was shut down due to a snowstorm, so maybe ive been very lucky. This is over a couple hundred boxes coming and going. UPS drops the ball about 1 in ten IME.
