Hello,

I am interested in culturing my own Phyto and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a starter kit, etc.

Thanks!

I would suggest to watch a few videos on youtube, its so simple, it just takes a few minutes of googling to understand it.

I use a 2 litre plastic coke bottle for my phyto cultures. Other than a container of some sort, you just need some phyto and fertilizer, and a small airpump, its that easy.

Also search these forums a bit for a bunch of DIY ones people have made, will give you some direction if you wanted to go that route!

Air pump $5
Air stone, tubes, valves $5
Lights $10
Vessel (glass brick Michael's) $8
Starter culture + F2 $20

For less than $50 you can make it.

Let me know if you have any questions! We have six different strains going at the moment!

DO YOU USE A PAR METER WHEN PLACING NEW CORAL IN YOUR TANK?

  • Yes! I think it's important for the longterm health/growth of my coral.
