That last pic is of a German U-boat sunk during WWII and which sits in recreational dive depths.

interseting story: Katie’s grandfather was a navy airman flying anti-submarine CAP off Cape Hatteras and is the only airman to have sunk a u-boat in American waters during the war. Amazing story. I havecopies of the after action reports and statements etc. interesting piece of family history.

Crazy life changes! And that is pretty cool about the family history.

Follow your dreams if you can man. Life is not a dress rehearsal right?

mid the past 6 months has shown us the value of living life while you can, I don’t know what could

we love this house. It was our dream fixer upper when we bought it. It works. When the girls have daycare and I can get time to do things. But homeschooling has just killed any free time for projects so we got talking about getting someone else to do the work. We were pricing out and just reached a point where we were talking about spending a lot of money, and living in a construction zone for month during a pandemic and just stopped. It no longer made sense

So now we are looking at a lake house, with enough space for a 300g plus fishroom and coral grow out- selling corals isn’t going to happen around here with the competition, and I’d rather not turn it into a job.

Plus- we can look to get a big enough workshop area so I can start the kayak building side hustle I’ve had floating in my head for years.

There’s a possibility we will be doing a build. Found an amazing Yacht and swim community, with communal docks on lake Lanier that has parks for the kids and some nice lots. Would be trading a few ‘privacy points’ like our own dock and freedom from HOA, but we gain so much more for the girls. Plus we get to spec the house within reason.

so- tomorrow- we have a consult with the community board to see lots and floor plans.

We might be starting in a journey that might get us into 400gallon peninsula plus custom built fishroom, essentially mimicking what we have here for Water production and frag+ QT space AND woodwork shop area for the ‘kinda kayak business’. Or we blow out more of the basement for 6 100 gallon plywood frag tanks and turn it into A Coral farm instead...

Got my frag tank Noops that I bought with proceeds from selling my 3x mars aquas. Got brackets too, since the hangingbidea looked way too cluttered.

they arrived at 9.03... which is after clock in time, so I had to wait until wife was done with work before I could play with them...

True! Sucks though donut?
That sounds like an amazing place to to live.
We found a place that ticks all the boxes other than an obvious place for the tank. If we got that house, there would be no upgrade, other than going from in-wall to peninsula. I can deal with that. I just need to convince Katie that we downsize the kitchen breakfast bar- which shouldn’t be hard.

we are going to see it on Thursday- it’s been on the market for a few months and has an unfinished basement which deters other buyers in the area- but it’s perfect for us.

Looks awesome! Good luck.
Fingers crossed

Wednesday- we have a meeting with a builder with respect to building on a lot we found. Actually, we found it when our 2 year old got car sick and puked on herself. When we pulled over, and cleaned up, we saw the view and the lot for sale sign, and just laughed (I mean- that’s a sign, right?).

It might be a challenge, since it’s waterfront and it drops 35 feet over a 135ft line (not the whole lot, but where the house would be). We either sacrifice a useable back yard or build up a retaining wall so we can have a walk-out basement level (woodworking shop and kids rec area). We need to see how pricing it out would work. But we are (I think)narrowing in on building, with a 16-18 month timeline. Or we buy somewhere and love in 3-4 months.

makes completing projects and fish room stuff (plumbing the mangrove frag tank For example) almost impossible to plan in the short term.
