Would you believe they’ve been in the fridge for like 10 days? I got 4ml of starter Nannochloropsis this morning (the left side bottle is the bulk of that added to 100ml if 1.019 + F/2 ‘fertilizer’ for expansion ($6 unlimited coral and filter feeder food for the QT? I’m in!) and I put like 0.5ml in with the pods, and they went nuts. So many of them have egg sacs too.

Going to work these two cultures up so that I have a 5g batch of pods and 3x staggered 1/3g phyto going.

No. But they’re rather resilient. I just got a bunch that I’m not seeing in my tank lol.

My LFS keeps them in the fridge and rotated the 2week old cultures to the from for sale. They can last 2 months at fridge temp if they have food

Quick parameter test-

Phosphorus-

0.018ppm phosphate equivalent

Nitrate

Going to have to do something about raising nutrient levels before I start stocking corals. I like the idea of ULN, but I think this is getting into UULN...

Explains total lack of GHA, and the minimal level of Cyanobacteria.

Any suggestions? I don’t really want to just dump a bunch of extra food in there, but I also don’t want to purposefully add NH3 or PO4

You would have loved my white board. But my laminated purple card stock charts are better. :) Just harder to wipe off with resets, but dry erase marker can remove permanent marker and it messed up my blank spaces for filling in dates, values and such. Still want a big white board for notes.

Killing me...I want to see pictures of this project. ;Shifty

Post 601 up there.

That’s where I’m at for the next two weeks. Once that culture takes off (it’s a 1:50 dilution from stock, so will take 11 days to reach stationary phase... told you I was a nerd), then I’m scaling it up to about a liter. Have 3 of those in rotation for feeding corals, tube anemones, clam, copepods.

At that point, I’ll reveal the final ‘Phyto Farm’!!

The other part is that it’s good for copepods and rotifers. And the only thing baby clownfish eat is rotifers, so I’m getting ready for culturing those, and raising some fry as soon as my clowns get into a routine.
