30 hour progress on the chemiclean treatment.
Pretty happy so far. Completely emptying, cleaning and refilling the sump tomorrow, plus a glass scrape and rock siphon in the DT. Going to run my reactors full of floss to catch the detritus. Messy day but the tank is going to sparkle after .
Once that’s done, I’m doing a parameter check on nitrate and phosphate, then again in a week. I’m getting conflicting info on whether the cyano is due to my nutrients being too low for beneficial algae to grow, therefore leaving a niche that can be occupied by cyano, or they are super high abd I have low flow. Interestingly, the hardest hit part of my sump is also one of the highest flow areas, plus I never saw elevated nutrients in the weeks before the cyano bloom.
Either way, I need to figure it out so I can avoid having to do this again. I’m thinking my Nitrates and phosphates will come in essentially zero, so I’m thinking I might have to dose stump remover to push them up a bit to get some gha going for the tangs.
Anyone specifically purposefully introduced GHA to their DT?
