Looks like a pretty simple construction and from the color on that skimmate it seems to work ok as well.

DIY at its best. Simple and looks like it does a great job, too!

Somehow I know I'd mess it up if i tried it! Haha.

Ive seen these!

But I think they are tricky to get going. Cause there is no bottom to them, so its hard to get them adjusted.

Ive also read that people have issues getting the foam to go down the tube at times aswell. Im not sure, but there was a OLD RC thread about them long time ago.

I'm going to try it, I think it is just adjusting the height in the tank to make them work right.

Ha ha I just made one out of two Propel bottles, an old Whisper 300 air pump some airline tubing, frag glue, an old Mag Float and believe it or not I still had the wooden air stone that came with my first Seaclone skimmer that I bought back in 1996... It seems to be working quite well and once it get's broke in and I get it set correctly it should do the job nicely. I'm thinking that it will also get covered in Coraline, even though it is barely noticeable now.

Would this work with an Azoo Battery Backup Air pump? I'm just curious if I can use an air pump that can also aerate the water when the power goes out.

As long as it has enough output to make enough bubbles with a wooden air block it should work just fine.

Ok, I want one for my 20g. That is extremely awesome.
What's the parts needed?

I quoted my post with the parts I used. I also found an old 90deg fitting to put in the bottle cap and hooked the output line to it. I'll try to get pic's tonight but my internet is on the fritz so no guarantees.
