I too have been using acrylic baffles with a glass tank for years. I just always read people saying its a ticking time bomb...acrylic will expand and break the glass...silicone will not bond to the acrylic and the baffles will fail....lol. Yes all that is true but not quite that extreme. Hopefully I can keep up with your thread and see your thoughts on the led vs mh. I loved my radions for the reasons you stated. The blues and purples corals were insane but the reds, greens, orange, lacked...yellow never existed. I do see your issues dealing with the heat too. Good luck

Thank you! It's easy to keep up with threads if you subscribe to them! ;-)

I'll keep everyone posted! Halides vs. LEDs. I know which corals were under halides and I have progress shots. I'll do the same with LEDs.

Re: acrylic in tanks
I'd expect that after 15 years, I would have already encountered some problems.. Not one! Maybe it's all the hype it has received over the years.

I agree with everyone else, love that stand! Great looking tank! I like the open space. I didn't follow the link, (I will now) but hopefully it has some more full tank shots? If not, you should post some up!

I will be posting some real pictures when I get the stand completely finished with doors and counter tops. I expect the canopy will be done this week. The last one I made was for halides and it's too shallow for LEDs.

Why the switch to leds? and how are you liking them so far? I'm guessing you have 2 nova over the tank?

A good opportunity came up and I decided to give it a try. I like them a lot! Temp is more stable, and I like the ability of controlling the intensity and tuning the color. Yes, 2 Nova R4s. I am keeping 2 pairs of T5s one pair front, one pair back. I love how it looks! Clarity is ridiculous!

Played with the lighting a bit yesterday. Stand is almost as smooth as I want it before final coat of white paint. Haven't even started the doors or counter top. Plan to do everything in the next 4-6 weeks after I finish painting upstairs and installing our new engineered flooring. Baby expected first week of June.

Update shot 4/28/14
