Hey everyone, I've been a member on here for awhile but never had my own tank thread as I've had it on a local forum. Figured I'd share my tank build with R2R as well.

To make a long story short, I moved to my townhouse in Feb 2014 and immediately set up an old oceanic 135g that I had gotten for FREE. Had a stand/canopy custom made for the tank, got everything filled/plumbed/scaped etc and then realized the frame was leaking from everywhere! I came up short finding a new frame for the tank given the age of it and them not being made anymore so I sold the tank(for what I paid in plumbing) and bought a brand new Marineland RR 150g all black tank.
Time was of the essence since I had all of my livestock in a tote so I quick put the tank up, replumbed everything(horribly) and I was good to go.

Months later I contemplating breaking the tank down again, which I did. Sold all the livestock, soaked the rock in vinegar and bleach and decided to take my time. This was back in Sept/Oct 2014 I believe.

Well here I am today, got a custom sump built, redid the plumbing to my liking, bought an apex system, bought a Maxspect gyre and redid my rock work. Here are some pics
Here's when I got the sump delivered.

As far as the equipment list I have:
-3 Reef Radiance DM155e lights
-Skimz 160 Monster skimmer
-jebao dc9000 return pump
-titanium 500w heater
-brs media reactor(for carbon)
-apex system with:
*2 EB8's
*1 temp probe
*1 pH probe
*1 conductivity probe
*1 pm2 module
*1 breakout box
*netgear wireless adapter
-Maxspect Gyre XF150
-float switch controlled by apex, using an Avast Diaphragm pump with it.
-also have a bio pellet reactor but that's not in use. Probably use it with phosguard down the line

Thanks Dextereef!! I can't wait to add fish. I just put the rock in last week so I still have a few weeks to let everything settle. There was still a small scent of vinegar on the rocks which caused foaming in my filter socks lol just gotta ride it out slowly.

I'm also starting to go thru another diatom bloom. Its all over my rocks and overflows. Yuck!

Hey everyone, I have a quick question. I've had these reef radiance LEDs for almost a year now but I was just curious, what different LED fixtures are Single corded rather than dual corded? And whatever fixture you may come up with, how many would I need for a 6ft 150g tank?

My tank is in full bloom effect right now. Got the brown diatoms everywhere, cloudy water, fizzy filter socks(probably from the vinegar still). Looks like its turning around tho, not as much brown to the tank today as there was 2 days ago :)

Have you turn off your light for 3 days and cover the tank and dose hydrogen oxide? I heard alot of good result about it.

No I've just been letting it run its course. My tank is really cloudy right now, looks like a bacterial bloom. Gotta give it a few days and if it doesn't clear up I'll run some carbon. And if that doesn't help then I'll look into the hydrogen peroxide method

Thanks! Yes, I'm so glad I decided to take a few steps back and actually plot out what I wanted. I wanted it back up and running a few months ago but I actually like the pace I'm going right now :)

Okay everyone, need some advice. I turned my skimmer on last night to try and help with cleaning the water up and it didn't work out so well lol the skimmer is dialed all the way out and it still overflowed twice with foam. I'm assuming I'm getting this stuff from the vinegar trace left over from the rocks.

Is there anything I can add to the tank that will help this?

Update. I did a huge water change and it seemed to really help with the cloudy water and foaming filter socks. I finally got my skimmer dialed in so that's in full effect. I also tested my tank yesterday and all turned out well.

so I went out and bought 5 Mexican Turbo Snails to help clean up.

I also went to Lowes to get some lights for my sump area

Looking awesome! Do you have the LED's attached by the adhesive? I did the same thing a while a go and found my LED in my sump. The moisture unstuck the LED.
