Anyone having to dose additional alkalinity while dosing kalk. My alkalinity wont stay above 7.0. Maybe because of bio pellets? I use buffers like kent and have even done baking soda but will eventually drop back to 7.0. My current parameters are: calcium 460, magnesium 1600, alk 7.0, ph 8.0. Should I also bring all my parameters down to be at the allowed minimum like my alkalinity, or should I dose additional alkalinity? Thanks in advanced.

Hi. It will drop due to high Nitrate. pH is a tad low as well.

I would keep the buffer dosing going & try to lower Nitrate.

Calcium is high But I have no idea what you have in your tank.

Just tested nitrates this morning. Haven't tested in quite sometime and they are none existent. I'm thinking the calcium is high since there's probably four to five frags in my tank but kent mixes at 450 with a salinity of 1.025. It wouldn't drop much even if I did a water change.
