Help with Zoas...

Hey guys need some help. I setup a a frag tank around march of this year. It is a 4x2 hydroponic tray, 30 gallon sump, 2 eheim jager 200W heaters, and as of right now 2 24'' led systems from rapid led, they are hung about 8 inches above the water, and they are both hung over the same half of the tray. I use instant ocean salt, salinity checked with a refractometer. Water is from a BRS rodi system. All params always check out. Ok so now to the problem. I bought a few small colonies and some frags to put in the system. For about 2-3 months they all did great. Always opened up nice, were growing at a descent rate and kept very nice color. But then they all closed up and have been closed up for the last couple months. I cannot get them to open. Some of them have even recently gotten this green stuff covering them up that I wipe off whenever I see it. Any thoughts on what is going on and why they are closed up now and won't open? Same here, mine started a couple of months ago and only certain colonies. I've had limited success with repeated dips in Lugol's but otherwise they just kind of waste away and I lose 50% or more of the colony. My Utter Chaos are the current victims.

I've also tried FW dip, that did not work at all and seem to do more harm then good. Tried Furan recently, seemed to help initially but then no continued improvement. I may try the Furan again and do a second dip the following day.

It's possible that the vermited snails on your frags are bothering them. Also what's your alk, cal and mag at?

when my zoas looked like that I did a furan dip an put in indirect high flow. be prepared to lose some but I am normally able to save at least a few polyps.
