I actually looked this time and nope, nothing telling me opinions on what lights to use for a 150 tank
DIMENSIONS length x width x depth

72 5/8 x 18 1/2 x 27 inches of course
it has 2 35" sides with a 2" divider

my question is what kind of lights should I get ? my tank sits in front of 3 brand new 4ft windows being they're very efficient but it does still get cold at night. I was hoping to get advice from some of you gurus cause I have no idea what I'm doing. I got the tank in a trade for a truck load of firewood and it's waiting to hold fish? I have a pump and everything else. th

Without knowing what kind of coral you plan to keep, I would start by blindly recommending 3 noopsyche k7 pro. That should be able to handle anything at a decent price point and has adjustable spectrum and output

To be honest I never even considered this was possibly freshwater.

The lighting requirements and many things would be completely different.

You are on a saltwater forum so asking if you should go fw or sw might be biased…I vote saltwater!

No worries! I had a 150 that I used as a fw tank for many years and bred several tank-buster fish in that tank. Several of us here keep both freshwater and saltwater tanks, however as @VintageReefer mentioned, we are biased toward saltwater. You have to find out where you fit and what works for you. If you choose sw then you will find plenty of info here to help you on your adventure. Good luck with whatever you choose!

I keep a 36 gallon fw bowfront with 5 Cory cats and 4 neon tetras, and some amano shrimp

And a betta in a 5g

I’m still heavily biased towards my sw tanks.

If you pick fw...and want real plants.
Well it's not restricted to that but it, obviously,is the main emphasis.

Which style you pick is really based on how you feel.

Both can be quite demanding and expensive though freshwater is often looked at as the cheaper of the 2 though it is arguable depending on species.
