Hello,
My name is Tom and I am a reef addict. I am creating this build thread so I can share the journey of this build with everyone!
Current progress pictures:
I found a BRAND NEW Red Sea Reefer 750 XXL about 4 hours away of where I live and they were giving a great deal with a bunch of goodies! The drive and work to get it back home was worth it!
*My tanks*
Main Display Reefer 750 XXL:
72 x 24 x 24H - 180 Gallons
Secondary Shallow Lagoon Deep Blue:
48 x 24 x 24H - 60 Gallons
Basement Shark / Predator Tank:
72 x 48 x 24H - 360 Gallons
Main Advanced Acrylic Sump:
60 x 24 x 20H - 125 Gallons
Waterchange Tank:
72 x 24 x 24H - 180 Gallons
Deep Blue Frag Tanks x 3:
48 x 24 x 24H - 180 Gallons
300 Gallon Rubbermaid Tank:
69 x 63 x 25H - 300 Gallons
Acrylic Display Refugium:
48 x 18 x 24H - 90 Gallons
Secret Frag Tank:
24 x 24 x 12H - 30 Gallons
Total Water Volume: 1505 Gallons!
*My Equipment*
This was the tank at the original owner's home. He started to set it up about 1 year ago but never finished starting the system.
I took my dad's mini van to load everything!
It took 4 of us with suction cups just to bring the tank to the van.
Loaded!
All packed up and ready to go!
The tank made it back safe and sound! My dog, Teddy, was extra curious this time [emoji6]
Shot of the Reefer Room, note that never let the tank sit on bare floor as I did not notice about the built in bulkheads at the bottom of the 600lbs tank. Luckily they did not break on me and are still in tact.
Time to paint the stands white
Deep Blue Stand: (First Coat)
All done!
Now for the Red Sea Stand!
I used this to paint the foam white. I am going with barebottom so I will need it white.
First coat on the Red Sea Stand:
All done!
The king mounts his throne! My other dog Speedy approves [emoji6]
Front Tank Shot:
I took some time to clean out my reef hoarder garage a little bit to make some room for my car
Snugged [emoji6]
Found some goodies:
Cleaned up the Deep Blue Shallow Lagoon Tank:
Painted the back black and the trim white to match the stand
Both tanks and stands are now in!
Side shot:
Soaking my equipment in a vinegar bath:
Found more rocks that I need to nuke and cure [emoji4]
My old frag tanks that I will be moving to my new fish room
New Fish Room
RODI
I have 2 medical grade water reservoirs. One is 200 gallons and the other 75 gallons
I started curing my old live rocks (they were sitting in saltwater) to make sure they don't leech PO4 and other stuff. So far so good! Don't mind the mess! I am redoing this side of the fish room soon!
