I already have a Raccoon Butterfly Fish, Chaetodon lunula. I want to add a Pearlscale Butterflyfish, Chaetodon Xanthurus. They are both Chaetodon family so I was wondering if they would be compatible or if they would conflict?

How big is the tank? How long has the Raccoon been in there? Do you have plenty of rock and caves?

Butterflies generally blend well together as you rarely see them fight with any fish

They will be in a 220g tank LOTS of live rock lots of caves.
That's a nice size tank, and the plethora of rock and caves really helps. I would think you'd have no problems mixing the two, beyond perhaps a bit of initial aggression (though many times butterflies leave each other alone).

I’ve never had an issue with butterflies getting along. Should be just fine.

Usually butterflies do fine when mixing, I just tend to avoid mixing more than one of the same species for most species. Some exceptions would be the genuses Heniochus and Hemitaurichthys

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
