So as I was doing my testing this morning I began thinking about my tank's alk level. It stays a steady 9dkh but this morning it was 8dkh and PH was 8.3-8.4. Nothing to freak out about, but it did spark some interest and research. Do you guys/girls think having a higher alk level, say around 10 or 11, is beneficial for growth/overall health of the tank?

Kinda hard to advise without magnesium and calcium levels.

If magnesium is 1300-1400 and calcium around 400 or so then things are fine.

As alk drops you can equally dose calcium and alk to keep the tank in balance. then after awhile add some magnesium.
