I was having the usual friendly chat at the LFS with the owner and a fellow reefer. We talked about dosing vs. calcium reactor, and ai was adked how much my alk. consumption was. Truthfully I have no idea.
Been using AFR for some months now and things are good and values are stable, so I thought I'd look into the math.

Total water is around 450 L
I'm dosing 4ml every hour so 96 mL =21mL/100L.

If 10mL AFR in 100L raises kh by 0.6, that means the uptake in my tank is 1.26 daily?

Just seems way to high, to be true.
Is my math incorrect?

Stop dosing. Check alk for 2 days at the same time and that will show how much your consumption is

True. But that might also show AFR is not adding the alk it says.
I don't have any issues and kh is stable within 0.1 throughout the day.

The math is correct.

Can you post a picture of the tank?

1.26 dKH is not that much. Even a soft coral tank can use 2 dKH per day if coralline is growing well.

Well, the coralline is growing well :)
The missing patches on the back was removed a few days ago, as it was really thick, and lose from the back glass trapping detritus.
