Gang,

I have a lowboy frag tank in the works.

Plans are to grow soft/lps corals

I want to mount my lights high enough where they are not hitting me in the face when im working in the tank

I already have a 48" AI blade im planning to use for it what other lights would you guys recommend ? or maybe another blade ? maybe some t5s? i have heard corals grow best under t5s and considering it is a "frag/grow-out tank" this may be best ??

Thanks !

with a lowboy, you can use just about any reef light to grow anything you like because it's so shallow. T5s are tried and true, you really can't go wrong there. I used a kessil AP9x myself. Check out my build!

Back when these first came out the hot ticket was an 8 bulb horticultural/hydroponics T5HO fixture- 6500k GE bulbs with a couple ATI or giessemann blues thrown in.

Due to the wide footprint hanging the lights up above by ~18-24" or so usually gives plenty of room with something like a Radion.

I’ve ran AI16’s, AI26’s, and a Single XR30 over a low boy. I preferred the XR30. I had it about 2-3 feet up (can’t remember exact height) and still had good par 100-150 and 80 on the edges. Now if you wanna do sticks 2 15’s lower would make the cut for sure.
