I understand your point, but I started this tank with dry rock in front of our patio door and added tiny frags over time. It’s not the light. It’s my opinion, Algae is from high TDS water, dirty tank water, poor nutrients, lack of clean-up crew, over feeding, detritus build up, Poor maintenance & too much iron. Probably a dozen other things. Please know I don’t mean to come across as argumentative. I learned this in the shallow California tide pools with scorching sun, beautiful anemones and sea life and there is no algae.Big difference between a heavily stocked well established tank and a new system with minimal biome. My lights run 10 hours in the day and 2.5 hours moonlight but my tank is also well established. I think lights are only part of his problem currently.
