I have a photosynthetic brown goo on my tank. I’ve taken some images under a microscope which show they aggregate on a single almost fungal like hyphae.

Any idea what these are as they don’t look like diatoms or dinos!

I am leaning towards dinoflagellate. Association with filament might a coincidence, a nice place to anchor and/or filament is feeding the organism. @taricha ?

Right. Spherical coolia dinos. They are collecting around that filament as an attachment point.

Thank you! I’ll try and treat for dinos and see how we go
