Hi everyone,

Had my Duncan for about 4-5 months now. He's generally done well the whole time, grew 5 new heads with more coming monthly.

He's been very open and healthy lately, but I noticed today his smooth green skeleton has some bumps growing on it. Doesn't seem to be bothering him but I'm wondering what this could be and if it's cause for concern or action, thanks!

SG: 1.025
Kh: 9-9.5
Calcium: 420
Nitrates/Phosphates undetectable

Excuse the GHA, I'm working on that.

You're probably not talking about the baby polyp, those "bumps" are probably just air bubbles that got trapped there

I'm talking about the small lumps on the main stalk, can air get trapped beneath the skeleton?

I believe its possible if it's been exposed to air, but assuming it hasn't been out of the water for 4-5 months, and just appearing now, it seems pretty unlikely, but I don't know.

It looks very healthy. I would not worry too much. The colors are bright which means good health. Crabs of inverts may pick at the stem. There are also little lumps on my stem as well. Had it for some time and it is doing just fine.

That makes me feel better, thank you! I think that's the first time anyone's complimented my coral. Love this Duncan so I got another a month or so ago

I alternate reef roids and mysis, he loves them both. My tank is relatively new so GHA is an unfortunately reality. The Duncan does fine with scrubbing the base but the Zoa's and pipe organ get dipped every couple weeks

sounds good. Try to lower the nitrates, if that does not work get a tang if the tank is big enough to also lower CO2 levels.
