What should I do to quarantine cheato before putting in my sump?

I wouldn't bother. If you like, you can give it a good rinse first to remove detritus. I'd actually argue you probably want the pods that probably live in there.

I don’t quarantine. I isolate long enough to inspect for obvious hitchhikers.

If you need more protection from hitchhikers then leave 72 days in quarantine

If you're QT'ing it to protect against disease (the odds of something like Chaeto bringing in disease are incredibly low, but not technically zero), then you'd keep it in a well-lit, fishless QT for minimum of 45 days at 81F; 60-76 days being more secure (and necessary if the temperature is lower than 81F).

If you're just QT'ing it to prevent "pests" from entering the tank, then you'd probably just observe it for a couple of weeks, remove any "pests" you find, and call it good.

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
