Hi all,

I have a pair of ~ 2 year old clowns. The male is slightly younger than the female and much smaller. They are different designer morphs. They used to have a giant anemone that they loved- but it melted in a post-move crash about a year ago. The only other fish was a cardinal.

The female has always had a baseline level of aggression. Lightly chases the other fish, nips at my fingers, etc.

In the last few months, her aggression has increased. I (think) she gave the cardinal popeye which led to his death. However, now that it’s just the two clowns she’s focusing 100% of her aggression toward the male- his fins are torn and he’s tattered up. He does not fight back.

What could be causing the aggression? Is she ready to breed? Is there any way to reduce it? Will increasing the fish load diffuse the aggression?
