I have been through my ugly stage and am starting to add corals. I have three that I think have found their right place in the rock column - one is low, one is in the middle and one likes it on top of the rocks. what I don't like is how the plugs they were grown on are so visible. I plan to glue them to the rocks, but is it ok to trim the plugs down and what's the best way to do that if it is.
An example of what I am talking about is in this picture. TIA

I try to pop the coral off the plug when possible, I just take a butter knife and try to slide it between the coral and the plug. But soft corals can be very difficult to get off the plug.

If I can't get it off the plug, then I cut the stem off the plug and glue the flat part to the rock. The coral eventually grows over and its not noticeable.

Just grow it: Have you ever added CO2 to your reef tank?
