I recently got a deskmate 4.8 tank and upgraded the return pump to the sicce micra plus (158 gph) and now I can’t keep enough water in the return chamber.

We are confused. Is this an all in one setup with a filter area in the back? Put more water in it. If the weir is to restrictive (small), you might have a pump that is to powerful. Depends how much room you have in the display.

Ohh didn’t realize I didn’t make it a question. But I’m asking if anyone has ran the same setup with same problem and how they resolved it.
Yes I ran in to this problem. My return screen was to small and stalled the water flowing to the pump. Now if you mean you can't get your return to keep up with the pump. Then try creating a siphon. AKA a return silencer, with a valve you can speed up the flow or slow it down.

Just grow it: Have you ever added CO2 to your reef tank?
