I believe I have some diatoms in my tank - nothing im too worried about. The tank has been running since November, I got the diatoms maybe 3-4 weeks ago. I’ve done water changes, frequent maintenance cleans and it’s not going away. I know people say it’s normal for new tanks, but should it be going away soon?

I would estimate that the average diatom bloom disappears within a month or two. Persistent blooms are blamed on the presence of silicate. Water changes could be replenishing silicate. Diatom blooms can be confused with dinoflagellate blooms.

are you using tap water? Diatoms shouldn't reappear once it passes. Take a pic if you can for identification.
