It’s one thing to buy an sps coral. It’s another thing to buy an sps coral that you’ve always wanted. And it’s even another thing to buy one and have it just take off!
A few years back I had the pleasure of seeing a rather large Rainbow Mummy Eye Chalice in a guy’s reef tank. It was stunning. I was never into incrusting type of corals. But this was a show piece. A few months back, I was at a lfs here in Arizona and unmistakably saw 3 or 4 frag size pieces of a RMEC. It was like winning the lottery. I bought one and mounted it on a 4” piece of live rock. And placed it into my display tank. It’s growing nicely on all sides. And looking forward to seeing a much larger colony in the near future.
Any Chalice fans out there?

I imagine those of the same species can touch, as is the case for my mycedium chalices, they touch all the time. That said, I believe the mummy eye is a Echinophyllia and I have no experience with those species touching their own kind?
