Never kept them. My hope is one day in 20xx keeping a long term non photosynthetic coral system will be possible without spending either a fortune or 12 hours a day maintaining it. If it were possible, a massive NPS coral display with flashlightfish, Deepwater angels, pinecone fish, cardinals, and squirelfish would be unbelievable.

Although I never tried them a few members of my club tried..The only one who had success long term was LI Aquarium (Formerly Atlantis Marine World). I saw them on an after hours visit at night. …very cool watching them flash in the darkness.

Flashlight fish possess a light organ called a photophore, beneath each eye. Inside this organ is a colony of luminescent bacteria that constantly glows with an pale green light. The flashlight fish can obscure their light organs either with a shutter mechanism or by rotating the light organ, effectively turning the lights on and off
Evolution is amazing!
