I'm new to sps and getting into it. I Think we all know about light acclimation and temp. With the new LEDs out.

In light of the flow wars... Lol
I'd like to hear about flow acclimation.
Does the heavy flow strip tissue or press flesh up against coral skeleton to the point of death?
Thanks for input

I have definitely heard that it can happen. Especially if you already have issues like RTN.

For what its worth:

I have a bare bottom 39g with a WP25 and two WP10s. All three are on W1 S3. They are all on my back wall. The WP25 mid way down on the left. One of the WP10s on the top right and the other on the bottom right. They create heavy opposing waves in the tank.

That being said, I have suffered no tissue loss what so ever and my polyps on my SPS seem to enjoy the flow. However, none of it is totally direct. Which I feel is the key.

Hopefully this helps a bit and others will chime in.

I agree the direct flow is the culprit. Lol
Prob pertains more to Lps and not something to worry about as I venture into sps.

we are always striving for tank conditions closest to those of a real coral reef. The closer you can mimic your flow to that of a real reef, the better off you'll be. Alternating patterns, etc. It requires less gpm and also promotes growth.
