I've got a Reef Octo T90 tank. The return is a small grate, maybe 1x2 inches. It blows straight out of the back near the top left. It creates some good flow, but also an odd pattern that causes a strong down flow across the front of the tank over the whole left side. My fish don't seem to like it, so they hang around the right side of the tank all the time.

I'm trying to come up with a way to deflect the flow a bit to mitigate this. For now I've kinda shoved my wave pump right in front of it, which sorta works but also really limits what I can do with the wave pump. The back surface of the tank is kind of a textured plastic that suction cups won't stick to.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

I imagine a simple piece of plastic, hanging from the glass, deflecting water toward center of tank would be easy to make.
