Is this monti dead, or will it recover?

Hi All,

My monti cap went full white about two months ago in response to a sharp increase in phosphate from the addition of some new sand. At the same time a couple of my acros also browned up.

Since then, it’s looked to me like it has decent polyp extensions and has even grown a little but has remained completely white. Am I misreading this, is it actually just dead and these aren’t actually polyps?

Assuming It is alive, is it just a case of patience?

To cover off the basics, it’s under 8x54w t5. There are equivalent frags with colour both above and below it in the tank. Flow is two mp40s and two Red Sea gyres (all random max). Alk is 8, calc is 435, mag is 1315, nitrate 10, phos 0.05.

Keep your Paramus stable and it’ll bounce back eventually.

Some montis can be a bit slow to recover, I had one sitting all paled out for about 3 months due to a fall in calcium levels (bad test kit), but it came back eventually.

It is alive.
Check all your parameters including SG. My green Monty whitens up some it's when my SG gets low.

a pic in white light will help confirm it 100%, but in this pic I still see polyps. I've tried killing these plating monti's before, as long as there is one tiny little spec of color attached to a rock, it will turn into a colony again
