Do you go for saturation 1.5tsp per gallon? Just support the pump off the floor of the reservoir to avoid pump wear?
I believe saturation is 2tsp per gallon, but the amount you need will depend on your tanks demand. Almost always better to start low and build up to the desired dose.

Suspend the pump off the bottom so you don't suck up any of the gunk that builds up on the bottom of the reservoir.

Oh thank you for clarifying. And yes I definitely plan on working up. I ultimately want to do this in my ato so I will have to chart the tanks usage of Ca/alk first and work my way up.
