So do you think if you put a Achilles tang in there right from hypo he would not get Ick?

If you keep the right salinity, and there is currently no ich in your DT, then I would say yes, I would think that he would never get it unless another contaminated fish/invert or water brought it into your system.

If there has ever been ich in your DT and you did not go fallow, it is still there and can make a reappearance. Going fishless in the DT for 8-10 weeks, and treating ALL fish as if they actually have ich, is the only way to completely eliminate ich. During my fallow, all fish were in hypo, even through the tang was the only "infected" fish

The problem with hypo is that it only addresses ich. Most other parasites are largely unaffected.

And if you are unlucky enough to encounter it, at least one hypo resistant strain of ich has been proven to exist. Yambot study done in 2003.

Now that I have the time I will take all fish out and go for 12 weeks fish less because I would hate to do 8 weeks for no result

Just make sure you treat all of your fish as if they had ich, whether it be hypo, copper, tank transfer, or one of the newer proven medications.

This. I recommend cupramine and at least two tank transfers prior to release in DT
