Here is my 75 gallon sps tank. It was my "challenge" tank about 4 years ago, to see if I could grow sps coral.

It is a standard Marineland aquarium with a triple drain overflow design, and a 3/4" return. It has a 29g sump. I used the cheap dc Amazon return pump with jebao powerheads. (They usually last about 2 years) I put all the rock on the center of the tank to allow full circulation around it.

It was a challenge for 8 months to keep the coral alive, as I used dry rock with live, black sand. I found out after the fact about the iron scratching the glass!

The tank started out with three Mars Aqua black boxes, but now has four Kessil A360X lights run on the Spectral controller.

Nowadays the reef is thriving and overgrowing. I am very happy with this tank!

So, an update for mid July. Polyp extension went down tremendously and colors got muted . I had issues with temperature swings from my uv sterilizer, and I also noticed the tank has 20 ppm nitrate and 0 ppm phosphate. The nitrates are normal for this tank. I fixed the temperature issue and started dosing neophos. I have chaeto in a fuge, but cannot pull it due to nitrate level. I'm starting to think the coral are consuming the phosphate too. It was .04 ppm on average a few months ago. I have returned the phosphate to .04 ppm, and notice the consumption rate is .01 ppm a day! I may have to set the neophos up on a doser if this takes care of the problem.

Dummy me did two big water changes about a week ago without adjusting the alk of the salt mix. It spiked alk from 8.5 dkh to 10.5 dkh! Lost half of the Solar Flare colony, but it was on it's way out anyway.
But now what's left of the colony is starting to get it's polyps back. I'm going to look into making my own 2 part, but it has to be very concentrated, as this tank takes up 1 dkh alk a day. Here's an updated pic...

Thanks dude! I'm gonna have to trim again soon. Gotta get a hybrid fixture to fix the shading too.
