Would you add more live rock or life rock to build up the rock work? I am leaning toward more live rock. Wanting to add another 10-15 pounds to build up toward the light so I can add SPS in the future.

Live rock is aquacultured rock in the Gulf of Mexico. Life rock is the purple dry rock that you can buy at just about any good LfS or at Bars or other places.

Adding life rock will not have any die off so little impact on bacterial life of the tank. Wet, shipped in water live rock has very little die off and tons of variety in micro flaura and fauna. If you have sturdy occupants go with live rock. Monitor for ammonia and increased nitrates if there is die off. The dry stuff rinse off dust maybe rinse in some saltwater and drop it in.
