Hi,
My tentacle plate coral was doing great but would inflate and float around. It ran into this hammer and looks like it took some damage. It hasn't recovered since, and looks to be getting worse by the day. I took a picture of during the collision and several days after. Any advice?
Thanks!

Leave it. They will frequently drop babies even 3 months later.

I'd make sure it's not BJD first, but it probably is just dead tissue, plates and hammers both are known to recover from bare skeletons

How do I make sure?
My Duncan died about 2 weeks ago, looked like this.
A Xenia was the first to go not long before that, developed the same purple slimy stuff. That being said, I’ve not been able to keep any Xenia (tried 3 times).

But the plate coral started to decline long before the purple slime showed up.

Euphyllia corals will always win and they as mentioned will produce sudden new polyps after weeks and months.

Does it look like it’s on this one to you? I see some purple film I think. image.jpg
I picked it up to look at it, seems like the purple skin stuff is just part of it.

Be on the lookout for any more of that film on any of your other corals
The toadstool (now closed) had a purple dot on it, I pulled it off with tweezers and it looks like slimy stuff too. Left a cavity where I removed it. Sigh. I have a bad feeling.

This one lacking flow more than likely and best at mid tank. Give it a few bursts from a turkey baster and disagree on plates lasting 8 months as ive seen 3 and 4 year plates thriving well and some die and rebound another year or two

It’s been one of my best corals always open and growing. Will blast that away. Will it be fine?
For future reference should I remove any rotting coral? I’m not sure what the conclusion was. The other half is rotting now and I want to know if I should rid of it before that purple jelly goes everywhere again.
